Objective:
To understand how an airplane wing is designed to lift a heavy machine into the air.
Materials:
1 piece of paper 15cm x 22cm
Tape
Ruler
Procedure:
1. Fold the piece of paper in half and tape the top half to the bottom half about 2.5cm from the edge. The top surface will be curved.
2. Glide the ruler into the fold of the wing.
3. Blow to direct a stream of air toward the wing.
4. Describe what happens as you blow air toward the wing. (The wing will rise into the air as you blow.)
5. Discuss why this happened.
