GERMANY: RIDING THE AUTOBAHN

Many people love German cars and riding the Autobahn where there are no speed limits!

1. All of these are convertibles.  Find the average cost for each car.  Find the average mpg for each also.

2. Suppose you were driving on the Autobahn.  Which car would you use if you were going to be on the road for a long time.  Explain your answer.

3. You are on the Autobahn in the Porsche.  If you go 80 mph for 3 1/2 hours, how far did you go?  If you went 300 km, how fast were you going if you drove for 2 3/4 hours?

4. You are going shopping for a new car.  You have narrowed it down to either the Audi TT (sticker price = $35,300) or the BMW M (sticker price = $45,445). The BMW dealer wants $5,000 down and will charge 4.9% interest annually.  The Audi dealer wants $4,000 down with 3.9% interest annually.  Both loans would be for 5 years. What would the interest be for each car? What would the payback be for each car?  What would the tax be for each car?  (6%) Don't forget to deduct the down payment before you figure the interest.
INTEREST = PRINCIPAL x RATE x TIME
PAYBACK = INTEREST + ORIGINAL COST (AFTER DOWN PAYMENT)

What would the monthly payment be for each of the 60 months of the loan?
