Note: All of this month's "Favorites" were entries in the
ThinkQuest
competition. Groups of students from around the world
collaborated to produce online educational tools. These are
our "favorites" of the many worthy creations.
- MusicNet
- Music education may never be the same. This student-developed
website is "dedicated to the spread of Music
Education." You'll find an interactive encyclopedia,
contests, games, and tips from inside the music profession.
- Interactive Tour
of the Cell
- Take an interactive tour of the cell. Explore the
"Virtual Cell." Browse the gallery of cells. Microbiology
can be fascinating!
- Chernobyl: A
Nuclear Disaster
- Ten years later, the explosion at the Chernobyl nuclear
power station remains the worst nuclear accident ever.
Hopefully, scientists worldwide have learned lessons from
it, like the ones covered in this website. Hopefully,
Chernobyl's history will never repeat itself.
- Raiders of the
Lost Art
- Be an archeologist, or a "raider of the lost art," by
exploring four cultures and "putting the pieces back
together." Use artifacts and other aspects of the cultures
to make new discoveries about life in other places at other times.
- The Online
Planetarium Show
- Everybody loves a visit to a planetarium! Now, you can
visit one online. Take a guided tour of the interactive
planetarium program called "Hubble: From Here To Eternity."
You'll see spectacular images captured by the Hubble Space Telescope.
- Investing for Kids
- Someone once said that you have to have money to make
money. They were talking about investing. It's never too
early for kids to learn the value of wisely investing their money.
