Cheltenham HS What is Life? I believe in creationism. In my opinion, life was originated by God. He created the heavens and the earth, the sun and the stars, the air and water, and all living things. He created plant life, and animal life, as well as organisms and cells. I think that the living organisms that are around us today are not exactly the same as they were when life began. I think some organisms evolved and adapted to their surrounding environment, which is ever changing at the impact of man. I also think that some organisms have not been able to survive these changes, and have become eliminated. But, virtually every living thing around us has been derived from what God created as the first living things. In order to be considered a living thing, certain scientific qualities are necessary. A living thing needs at least one cell, it needs to reproduce and take in energy, and it needs to grow and develop according to genetic instruction. Living things need to have all these characteristic and more. But to me, LIFE, is more. Life is activity, motion, and excitement. Life is reliance on certain balances, and striving to achieve them. Life is interaction with surrounding elements, responding to environmental changes. Life is all living things intertwined in one huge planetary equilibrium. Life is a state of being, always changing and adapting. Life is struggling to maintain certain necessities, while enjoying and reacting to adjoining life. Life is an exertion, at times to achieve one major goal, at others to survive. Life is an on going process, each day extending, which is affected by every motion, decision, and thought. Life is affected by every living thing. |
