If you enjoy innovative online school websites, then you simply must visit Edwin Forrest Elementary School. Located in the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania school district, the Forrest School's students and teachers invite worldwide visitors into their classrooms. They share their very best work with the online community.
Their "very best work" includes Forrest Trails, their online magazine. Since the new school year has only just begun, the September issue highlights outstanding student work from the last school year. Consider My Dog Had Ten Puppies by 4th grader, Caitlyn. She has quite a story to tell, and she tells it quite well. Another 4th grader, Justin, shares a tribute to his Grandpa, while 3rd grader Laura answers the question What is a Mother?
A truly remarkable example of student work is the African American History Oratorical Contest winning speech by 5th grader Celina. Her writing skill is most impressive. There's no surprise that the speech is award-winning.
Mrs. Katherine Nell, 5th grade teacher, and apparent powerhouse behind the school's website, offers Room 308, one of the most action-packed "classrooms" on the Web. The 5th grade students have given the age-old summer vacation report a new twist, thanks to their Summer Fun Quick Cam Art. This school year promises exciting new activities Room 308, with February looking to be extra special. Mrs. Nell's class will host Brownie Bear as he passes through Philadelphia. Stop in to see how Brownie enjoys the city of brotherly love.
Visit Forrest Elementary School soon. You're sure to find something new.
