The Amazing World of Oceans
By Josiah R., Grade 7

Pacific
Atlantic
Indian
Arctic
They are all oceans
Oceans are so amazing
I can't keep my mind
Off of them. It is amazing
How there is
a Milky Way of plankton
In the marine underwater.
There is also an animal
Kingdom that crouches
Behind a jagged outcrop
Of living coral.
Also, did you know sea scooters
are twin screws moved by electric motors?
That's how amazing the environment is.

The Ocean
By Jessinia M., Lizette R., and Tyesha B., Grade 7

The ocean I know is
now so dirty;
It once used to be nice and sturdy.
I wonder why the fish die.
It is because of our trashy supply.
A lot of people think
it's funny.
I think they're wasting money.
Trying to wipe out our water supply.
I just sit and cry and ask, "why?"
Why are they doing this? Don't they
care about the fish?
And the water,
We say, "Stop,
and that's an order!"

Sea Otter
By Juan S., Grade 7

Swift; silent
Swims, weary, eats
Always on the lookout
Sea otter

Plankton Poem
By Amirah M., Grade 7

Planktons are very small.
They swim, they do not crawl.
You can't see them with your eyes.
You need a microscope to spy.
They're gold, yellow, and brown all around.

By Tara B., Grade 8
This ocean is a beautiful place.
So why do we put in toxic waste?
There are fish in the ocean and
they don't need any toxic poison.
So clean up the oceans so
there won't be commotion!

The Underwater World
By Anamarie G., Sokha O., and Nancy L., Grade 8

Oceans are supposed to be
Clean and beautiful.
Every living thing,
Alive not dead.
Never pollute the
Ocean for it
Gives food to other animals.
Rivers, streams, and oceans
All together shouldn't be
Polluted
However,
You and I need it for water.

An Unforgettable Day
By Huong T., Kim T., and Anneesha G., Grade 8

It was a windy day,
But it was pleasing in a way.
When the ferry moved,
It took off really smoothly.
The sight of the sea squirt made us excited,
At the thought of being in the water we were more delighted.
Above in the sky were flying seagulls,
They looked beautiful but more peaceful.
The leaves are changing colors for another season,
But do you know what's the reason?

A Baby Whale
By Dionne B., Grade 8

As the people run and play,
a baby whale is found.
As the people stop and stare,
a baby whale is hurt.
As the people run and scream in fright,
a baby whale is scared.
As the people pick up a child that was hit,
a baby whale has died.
As the people celebrate that the "beast" is dead,
a baby whale is the victim of human stupidity.

Sea Grapes
By Gloria S., Vicky K., Armen H., and Joey V., Grade 8

Sea grapes
Still together
Squirt water when pressed
Very peaceful on the sand marsh
Sea squirt

Sea Gull
By Gloria S., Vicky K., Armen H., and Joey V., Grade 8

Sea gull
Live, rapid
Jets, seeks, eats
Enjoying the sunlight
Sea gull

Poem
By Shandi P., Grade 7

Oceans, Oceans are very beautiful.
Fishes, fishes are very rare.
Dolphins, dolphins flip and flop.
Whales, whales are very big and cute.
Water, water is salty and green.
I love the big oceans.

Blue-Bell
By Shawn G., James F., and Vaughn C., Grade 7

Blue, yellow, and bright
Well known around the United States
A familiar and fragile plant one to two feet high
fragrant.

Oceans
By Shawn G., James F., and Vaughn C., Grade 7

Oceans, Oceans, Oceans
The throwing of the trash
To based on the world's motions
The oceans were clear!
That's what I heard not what I've seen
Right now this whole world is on the lean
That's going to continue until the ocean gets clean.

Hermit Crab
By Jasmine W. and Camara P., Grade 8

Small, still
Creeps
Lurks
Silent as the night
Hermit Crab

Water
By Jasmine W. and Camara P., Grade 8

Soothing, Salty
Splashing all around
us
Home to all sea life
Aqua

A Rap
By Terrick F., Grade 8

I remembered when we arrived at the Lewes Ferry. Everyone was rushing and they were in a hurry. Mrs. Appel started to fuss as she pushed everyone off the bus. We went to the gift shop, I didn't have much money; so I was really mad because of the price on the bunny. When we were on the ferry everyone started to panic, but I said, "Chill out, y'all. This isn't the Titanic!" We went on a ramp and I got a cramp, but now I'm feeling better, because I wrote this letter. I'm running out of time so that's the end of my rhyme.

The Beautiful Ocean
By Bee L., Grade 7

The beautiful ocean,
Lovely and peaceful.
I just want to lie on the beach and
look at the waves or ships that go by.
I wish I can stay there forever.
When I'm out there I would go swimming
until I reach the ocean floor.
It's a home for sea creatures and
fish that live there.
It may not be safe
because the water may be polluted
with things that people have thrown.

Beautiful Ocean

Ocean
By Leslie A., Grade 7

Ocean, Ocean, come see me,
See me move, see my waves.
Have you had any clue?
In me I have whatever you can imagine.
Blue and white flows
across the ocean.
Nothing to do but let
the ocean drift you away.
Ocean, Ocean, now you know who I am.
Now go to the ocean and sit
on the sand, look at the sky
and let the beautiful sunset
take your words away
from your mouth and let
the ocean drift you away.

A Thousand Waves
By Iris L., Grade 8

A thousand waves...
Listening for the waves splashing below,
I feel relieved as the sound gets high then low.
A thousand waves...
Watching waves as they roam free,
Gliding smoothly, hitting the rocks vigorously.
A thousand waves...
Wishing I could be like wild waves,
Roaming shores for miles and days.
A thousand waves...
Flying above are birds in the blue sky,
Below is water, dark, and alive.
A thousand waves!
Many beautiful waves!

A Thousand Waves

Ocean
By Jennifer T. and Audrey G., Grade 7

The Ocean is blue as well
as the sky, just as beautiful as
those butterflies.
If only you could see the starfish in the
ocean and if we could put your ear and hear it in motion.
Ocean.

Gray Whale

Poem
By Aquilla L. and Veronica K., Grade 7

Animal of the sea
Would you like to be me?
Walk around in slow motion
or float in the ocean?
I think to myself,
What should I do?
Walk in the park
or go see a shark?
Animals of the sea
What should it be?
