| In 1893, Major Taylor got a new job in Harry Hearsey's bicycle
store. He taught people how to ride bikes and do tricks. During this time a group of
cyclists created The Zig Zag Cycling Club. Members of this club enjoyed racing, dinners
and dances. Major Taylor was permitted to race but could not participate in
the social events because of the color of his skin. At night he rode his bike back to his
farm where his family lived in poverty. |
