For Students>Scorekeeping

School has never been so much fun as when you score baseball games. Your teacher will be happy too because you'll be learning. What more could you ask for?

There is no one way to score a baseball game. The ultimate purpose of keeping score is to be able to re-create the game after it has ended. If you can do that from your scorecard, you have been successful.

No site, book, or lecturer can describe every conceivable play in baseball. But once you understand the routine plays, you will be able to adapt to anything out of the ordinary. Baseball is timeless. A ground out third to first has occurred since the beginning of the game. All you need to learn is how to record such plays.

There are a few things to learn before you can be a scorer. I promise it is not hard.

The Positions
Every player has a unique number. Learn what they are and have a laugh too.

The Scorecard
Get to know the canvas of your game.

Play Ball
Once the game begins, you need to record the plays. We begin our investigation with outs.

Hits
Sometimes, and we hope it's the Phillies, your team will make hits. Read how to record them.

Advances
Once a player reaches base, all sorts of fun things can happen.
