The canvas for your baseball game is a piece of paper. Nothing more. There are different styles of scorecards. We learn to use a diamond scorecard that has a picture of the field on which to record the plays. We have found this is the easiest scorecard for students to comprehend.
No matter what style of scorecard you use, you will need to record the teams' line-ups. Whether you go to the game, watch it on television, listen to it on radio, or even follow it via the Internet, the line-ups are provided ahead of time. It is to your advantage to copy the line-ups as soon as they are set. Little League games provide a challenge as the line-ups are frequently not publicly shared. In such a case, you can record the players as the game proceeds.
Let's assume the line-up is posted prior to the game. You are responsible for copying three pieces of information for each player: his name, number, and position.
Record the line-ups of both teams on your scorecard.
