For Students>Scorekeeping>Advances

scoreOnce a batter gets on base, he may advance to another base. If a batter bats him to a base, you want to record the play of the batter and the batter's number.

In the picture here, the player originally singled to right-center field. He then scored on a double hit by number 53. There was a tick mark at first because he stopped at first base when he singled. The entire diamond is marked over because this player touched all the bases. We put a small x in the middle of the diamond to indicate he scored a run.

Sometimes runners will advance even when the batter has not hit the ball. Whether the runner steals a base (SB) or advances on a passed ball (PB) or a wild pitch (WP), you record the the play with the batter's number next to it so you know when it happened.
