Imagine a balloon filled with carbon dioxide. Now each time you use electricity, imagine balloons of CO₂ coming out of the power station chimney. Each time you ride in a bus or car imagine balloons coming out of the exhaust pipe. Just how much carbon dioxide do you think you are making? Here are some of our estimates:

Using a 100W light bulb for 1 hour...................................7 balloons

Using a 2kW hair dryer for 15 minutes..........................35 balloons

Using 1kWhr (one unit) of electricity..............................70 balloons

Using 1kWhr of natural gas.............................................31 balloons

Travelling one mile by bus...............................................17 balloons

Travelling one mile by car................................................60 balloons
