Jellyfish are zooplankton. Zooplankton are primary consumers in the Bay ecosystem. Jellyfish feed on the phytoplankton.
Most of the jellyfish found in the Delaware Bay are known as moon jellies. These can be as large as 20 inches in diameter. They are translucent, but may be shades of pink. Moon jellies have an opaque forur-leafed clover design in their center and numerous short marginal tenacles.
