In school, I always enjoyed math and science classes, but
not until college was I able to learn to become a
meteorologist. Then I studied more weather-specific
disciplines, like thermodynamics and forecasting, as well as
continuing with important general sciences, such as
chemistry and physics.
At the National Weather Service, it's my job to predict what will happen with the weather every day. When I arrive at work, my first task is to get acquainted with the weather. I'll sit at my computer and get information about what's happening right now. We forecasters work in shifts, so I'll also take a look at what the forecaster who was working right before me thought about the current weather patterns. We work around the clock at the National Weather Service! Did she think the thunderstorms would end soon? Did she think it would clear up tonight? |
